Bio: I'm an academic specialising in literature and culture of the long nineteenth-century, currently a Lecturer in the English department at Queen Mary, University of London. I've started using this blog as a means of putting out work-in-progress, stray ideas and material I've used in papers or teaching, but haven't yet made into something publishable in a traditional sense. My research interests revolve around the everyday, space and geography, work and leisure etc, and how these aspects of material culture are rendered in cultural representation, and in particular, the novel. @matthewingleby
